How do I go about getting a new business quote?

Send a complete Acord Application to CL@bigskyunderwriters.com. Your underwriter will then contact you if any additional information is needed to provide the quote.

Why should I send my quote (new or renewal), bind, endorsement, etc. request to cl@bigskyunderwriters.com in lieu of sending it directly to an underwriter or assistant underwriter?

The CL@bigskyunderwriters.com address is managed by one person in our office who reads through each correspondence and then distributes the request to the designated underwriter or assistant underwriter’s task list. This makes for a smooth transaction in which the file is touched once by the correct person in a timely matter. Also, if your underwriter is out, the request can be forwarded to the individual’s backup right away.

Who do I talk to about Capitol Direct Bill account issues?

For any billing questionsregarding Capitol Indemnity Direct Bill please contact Capitol directly at 888.541.0481.

If an additional/return premium endorsement or cancellation is processed on a policy when should I expect to see the charge/refund?

The refund/charge will be included on your agency statement the following month. For example: if the cancellation was processed in March, the refund will show up on your April statement.

How do I dispute an audit if the insured feels it is inaccurate?

After receiving the audit and invoice, the insured has 30 days to provide a signed letter stating that the audit is incorrect and why. Corrected figures should also be provided at that time so that the audit can be revised.

Why am I receiving my policies via email rather than through the mail?

Big Sky Underwriters is “Going Green”. E-mailing the policies is a great way to save paper and reduce waste. We have also found it is a much faster way to get the policies to your office. *If you do not want your policies e-mailed please let us know and we can make arrangements to have the policies mailed to you.

Will I receive a renewal quote for my upcoming renewal policy or will it renew automatically?

If the policy is written through Capitol Indemnity, it will be renewed automatically and you will not receive a quote. If it is written through any other company, you will receive a renewal quote 45 days before the renewal date.

Do I need to get a new signed Terrorism Form from my insured every year?

No, we do not require a new signed Terrorism Form every year. Our companies require new copies every three years. If a Terrorism Form is needed, we will be request it on the “Order to Bind” page of your renewal quote and/or the thank you letter which accompanies the policy.

What information must be provided to obtain a Replacement Cost property coverage quote?

In order for us to provide a Replacement Cost quote for any building we must have a completed property Acord Application including the age of the building, construction type, and year of updates to the electrical and plumbing systems, and also updates to the roof.

Are overlap children covered on daycare policies?

Capitol Indemnity: Overlap children are covered as long as they are listed on the insured’s license. USLI: Overlap children must be rated for in addition to the number of children on the insured’s license.

Can booth renters be added to a Beauty/Barber Body master policy?

Yes, independent contractors or booth renters can be added to a Beauty/Barber Body master policy. They do not, however, have to be listed on a master policy if they already have their own insurance policy.
