How do I submit a risk for a quote with Church Mutual?

Submit the following items for review by underwriting:
    Church Mutual application
    General survey
    Sexual misconduct/molestation survey
    Loss runs/loss history form
    Photos
    Property inspection/diagram

Are there any special licensing procedures to write business with Church Mutual?

Agents must be appointed with Church Mutual.

Will Church Mutual write a church that leases space for services and does not own its own building??

Yes – these types of risks can be written with Church Mutual. Along with standard underwriting information, submit a non-owned building survey.

How are Church Mutual accounts billed?

Church Mutual policies are company direct bill. Please contact our New Business Underwriter, Beth Robinson at extension 49 or via email at bethr@bigskyunderwriters.com. How do I file a claim on a Church Mutual account?

Claims can be submitted to our office or direct to the company (1-800-554-2642, dial zero, ask for claims department). Claims can be emailed to our office at chmu@bigskyunderwriters.com. or bethr@bigskyunderwriters.com. Please be sure to show CLAIM in the subject line.

Who does my insured contact if they have questions on their bill?

Insureds should contact Church Mutual Billing Department direct at 1-800-554-2642, option 4, extension 4607

What accommodation lines are available and how can I obtain a quote??

Business Auto, Umbrella/Excess, Directors, Officers & Trustees Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Educators Liability, Employee Benefits Liability, Travel/Accident Coverage, Clergy Homeowner/Tenant Homeowner. Special applications are available online for each line of business.

On camp/retreat center risks, will Church Mutual provide coverage for activities unique to camping risks?

Yes – coverage is available for saddle animals, rock climbing/rappelling, climbing walls, ropes courses, archery, riflery, watercraft, white-water rafting. This is a limited list, so please address your specific question to the underwriter.

What safety resources are available for religious ministries to establish a loss control program?

Church Mutual’s website www.churchmutual.com has a wide array of safety resources available. Protection Series booklets are available for download. Safety Videos (DVDs) and Safety Posters can be ordered from the website.

A native Montanan, Beth was born and raised in Kalispell. She began her insurance career in 1977 and has worked at the company level in both Salt Lake City and Nashville. She holds a B.A. Degree in History/Political Science from Eastern Washington University. In 1984, Beth returned to Kalispell and became an underwriter for Service Office of Montana which later became Hull & Company. She joined Big Sky when the Kalispell and Missoula office consolidated in September 2009.

Chuck is a native of Montana. He started his insurance career in 1985 working for Bjornson/Sentinel agency while attending college at Moorhead State University in Moorhead, Minnesota. He holds a B.S. Degree in Business from Eastern Montana College, and earned his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 1996. Chuck started his career with Hull & Company in 1996, and is currently a Commercial Lines Underwriter working with Wyoming agents along with a number of Montana and Idaho agents.

Cheri was born and raised in Wisconsin where she worked in engineering and residential construction. After spending five years in northeastern British Columbia, Canada operating a hunting guide/outfitter business with her husband Paul and three sons, she moved to Kalispell, Montana in summer 2008 and began working for Big Sky Underwriters. Cheri’s interests include spending time with her family, reading, hunting, hiking, and horseback riding.
